Hydraulic impact hammers

Various types of hydraulic impact hammers, from small and versatile to heavy offshore impact hammers.

Impact hammers for sale

Foundiz offers a wide range of hydraulic impact hammers for various foundation techniques.

Impact hammers, also known as hydraulic impact hammers, are used for driving precast concrete piles, wooden piles, steel pipe piles, sheet piles, and H-profiles. By means of a drop weight hitting the pile head, the pile is driven to depth in a controlled manner. In most cases, the drop weight is internally accelerated to increase the impact force on the pile head.

Depending on the application, impact hammers are used in combination with a piling rig with a fixed or swinging leader, or free-hanging with a crane. Additionally, compact solutions are available that can be used as an attachment for an excavator.

Are you looking for an impact hammer, piling rig, or complete piling machine for your project? Foundiz assists in selecting the right solution, tailored to pile type, soil composition, and project conditions. This is based on technical advice and a drive ability prediction.

Range & applications

Foundiz supplies various types of impact hammers for applications within foundation engineering. These impact hammers are used for driving various pile types, including concrete piles, steel pipe piles, sheet piles, and H-beams.

The range varies from compact impact hammers for light and medium-duty work to heavy hydraulic impact hammers for large-scale and offshore projects, including underwater piling applications.

Hydraulic impact hammers are primarily used in situations where vibration is not sufficiently effective, for example, in dense or compacted soil layers. In such conditions, impact hammers provide the necessary striking force to drive foundation elements to depth.

Dawson impact hammers

Foundiz is a dealer for Dawson Construction Plant and supplies the full range of hydraulic impact hammers from this brand.

Dawson impact hammers have been developed based on practical experience and are designed for driving steel pipe piles and sheet piles, among others, with simple operation and a high degree of reliability. They are used in projects where high impact force and consistent performance are required.

In soft soil, steel pipes and sheet piles can often be driven to depth with a vibro hammer. However, in compacted soil types, the penetration speed of vibro hammers decreases or vibrating is no longer possible. In that case, hydraulic impact hammers offer the right solution to drive foundation elements to depth in a controlled manner and with sufficient energy.

Dawson impact hammers are available in various versions, suitable for light, medium, and heavy-duty applications, including underwater piling. Additionally, they can be equipped with various accessories, such as drive caps, sleeves, and sheet pile legs, allowing different types of steel casings, sheet piles, and H-beams to be efficiently driven to depth.

Movax impact hammers

Foundiz is also a dealer for Movax, a specialist in foundation equipment for excavator applications.

In addition to the well-known sidegrip vibro, Movax also supplies hydraulic impact hammers with drop weights ranging from approximately 1,500 kg to 4,000 kg.

With the help of attachments and accessories, these impact hammers can be easily coupled to excavators, making them flexible for use in projects where mobility and compact deployment are important.

Configurations and deployment

Hydraulic impact hammers can be used in various ways, depending on the application and project environment.

In combination with a piling rig, a leader ensures accurate guidance of the impact hammer and the pile. Additionally, it is possible to use impact hammers free-hanging, where the hammer is positioned on the pile using a crane.

For specific applications, compact configurations are also available, such as excavator-mounted systems with or without mounting masts. This allows for flexible work, even in limited space or at difficult angles.

Accessories and applications

Impact hammers can be equipped with various accessories, such as drive caps, sleeves, and sheet pile adapters.

With these accessories, it is possible to drive various pile types and profiles, including steel pipes, sheet piles, and H-beams. This makes the use of hydraulic impact hammers suitable for a wide range of foundation projects.

Advice and drive ability prediction

The choice of the right impact hammer and piling method is highly dependent on pile specifications and soil conditions. Foundiz supports this with technical advice and drive ability predictions.

Based on soil data and pile type, it is determined which impact hammer and configuration are most suitable for the project. The results are recorded in a clear report, so that it is clear in advance which approach is most efficient and feasible.

This reduces the risk of problems during execution and creates a more predictable piling process.
